Laboratory Manager

Thrive Group are delighted to be working with our client in Frome, who are actively seeking to recruit an experienced Laboratory Manager to join on a permanent basis.

What you will be doing:

Reporting into the Compliance Manager, the Laboratory Manager will lead and mentor a small team who work in an analytical lab, with all micro testing being completed by an external laboratory. You will ensure that the lab runs efficiently, and results are co-ordinated & available on time.

Also to take the relevant course of action needed in the event of non-conforming results of microbiological or Chemical analysis, considering all food safety, hygiene, and customer requirement.

Support on the course of action following customer audits and complaints thus meeting the needs of the customer.

You will be engaging with customers, production, product development, supply chain, QA and Technical departments.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Continuous improvement mentality.
  • Dynamic and creative with analytical integrity
  • Technical food manufacturing and processing understanding
  • Experience of microbiological and chemical testing
  • Experience of Quality Management Systems
  • Experience in analytical or microbiological laboratory experience.
  • Supervisory experience.

What you will receive in return:

  • to £35,000 per annum, dependant on experience.
  • Monday to Friday; 8.30am to 5.00pm with a half an hour unpaid lunch break, equating to 40 hours per week.
