Finance Officer

Finance Officer Permanent Role £27,000 - £30,000 annual salary Oxford / Hybrid Working Higher Education

A reputable higher education organisation, based in central Oxford.

Your new role

  • Processing and maintaining financial records, monitoring and investigating accounts
  • Monitoring financial controls and procedures. Including training of staff
  • Assist the assistant management accountants in the provision of financial information
  • Interact with donors as the first point of contact regarding the payment of their gifts and with HMRC in order to reclaim any gift aid due
  • Lead liaison nominated banks regarding processing of donations received via Direct Debit and BACS transfers
  • Advise colleagues on appropriate spending levels against gifts received and on the remaining balances of gift funds.
  • Support the assistant management accountants and budget holders in the preparation of budgets, operational monitoring and control of agreed budgets
  • Provide regular forecasting information to the assistant management accountants
  • Manage the financial reconciliation of external funders
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare monthly payroll report
  • Reconcile individual accounts as directed.


What you'll need to succeed

  • AAT, ACCA or CIMA or equivalent, relevant experience
  • Strong Maths and English (written and spoken)
  • Experience of working in a finance office/environment
  • Experience in financial planning, forecasting, monitoring, reporting and general reconciliation
  • Experience of a financial software package
  • Experience of monitoring budgets
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and good organisation skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • IT: Strong Excel skills
