Salary: £40,000 to £48,000 + benefits (Dependant on experience)

In Environmental Engineering, the project teams are integral within all land, sea and air-based system projects. As the environmental project engineer, you will provide a technical focal point for all stages of the product lifecycle, from concept definition and product development, through design aid and formal qualification, and into in-service support. Expertise covers the areas of: requirements specification and management; data analysis; simulation and modelling; and testing in climatic, mechanical (vibration and shock), structural mechanical and fatigue.


All Project Engineers work closely and build relationships with a range of functions within the business, sectors and Chief Engineers including Systems Engineering, Architecture, Design and Proving teams. Applying specialist technical knowledge and providing advice to projects, with responsibility for delivery of technical aspects of data analysis activities.


You will provide technical expertise in generating environmental requirements, developing robust product designs and defining and managing efficient test strategies throughout the product development cycle. You will work closely with other experienced project and test engineers to define and manage test programmes.


In addition, you will interact with customers in the delivery of data analysis tasks or technical work packages, including data gathering trials and assessments, platform integration activities, and structural modal assessment, ensuring delivery to the required quality, timescale and budget.


Environmental Project Engineer skills and qualifications required:

  • Ideally educated to degree level or with strong experience in managing projects in a laboratory environment.
  • Working experience ofEnvironmental Engineering, ideally within the defence sector
  • Thorough understanding of vibration, shock, temperature and humidity environments
  • Understanding of environmental test processes, test measurements and instrumentation
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience of environmental testing (vibration, shock, temperature and humidity) would be beneficial
