Project Controller


Job title: Project Controls Consultant (9053) Location: Various (Team based in Bristol)

About the role

Are you interested in working for a global leader within defence? This unique opportunity allows those from a PMO background to work within an exciting customer facing role in a fast-paced, strategic programme. The team is based within our Bristol office, with some meetings taking place at our High Wycombe office. Our teams and clients are geographically spread, so there's an exciting opportunity to travel within the UK (and potentially overseas).

Join a high performing team to support, through an Engineering Development Programme contract, a large aircraft military platform programme by delivering Project Management Office (PMO) consultancy. This support is an output-based contract used to underpin planning decisions at programmatic level.

Our Customer is responsible for delivering a suite of capability enhancements through wider cross Defence Lines of Development engagement. You will ideally already be an experienced consultant with client experience (or be able to demonstrate a strong aptitude in consulting skills), familiar at operating in a team environment on projects that vary in scope and scale. As an enthusiastic, proactive and success-driven individual, you will bring an agile and enquiring mind to the team.

What do I need?

The following is desirable but not essential:

  • A clear understanding of Ministry of Defence project controls
  • Experience of the MOD CADMID process
  • Understanding of governance and assurance policies, policies and standards relating to project controls.
  • Strategically and tactically, logically and creatively thinking
  • Good commercial and financial awareness
  • You are likely to hold (or be actively working towards) membership of a professional institution

What will I be doing?

  • Developing and delivering of complex project schedules using proprietary planning tools such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6; and project control solutions (e.g. construction of a WBS, development of schedules and work packages);
  • Providing project schedule analytics and reporting methodologies and techniques (e.g. Critical Path Analysis)
  • Providing risk management using risk tools such as Predict! Risk Controller or Active Risk Manager (ARM)
  • Supporting, leading and facilitating stakeholder discussions and workshops
  • Using an agile mind-set, to comfortably work in dynamic situations, dealing with ambiguity
  • Providing a broad understanding of National Security, Defence and the Armed Forces.
