About the Principal Manager role:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our mine heat licensing team as we seek to support the sustainable use of our legacy coal workings by developing the area of mine heat licensing. This will require a pragmatic and consultative individual, skilled in stakeholder management and with the vision to support the development of new and emerging technologies utilising mine workings.

This role is crucial to supporting the Authority in delivering our commitment to sustainability and as such will involve liaising with our commercial services team and providing specialist internal and external advice to customers and other stakeholders on mine heat licensing matters.

Key responsibilities as ourPrincipal Manager:

  • Working alongside the Head of Development to identify key areas of focus and to set direction
  • Managing the Mine Heat Licensing function for the authority and overseeing the delivery of high quality services and processes
  • Leading and developing the team, ensuring it has the right balance of skills and experience to deliver its objectives
  • Overseeing the delivery of internal and external development advice for Mine Heat licensing
  • Working with the Head of Heat and By-Product Innovation to ensure we are able to service the growing pipeline of opportunities within the mine energy space and manage customer experience and expectations
  • Working with the Principal Manager- Licensing and Permissions to ensure we are aligning customer experience and expectations
  • Identifying departmental and Mine Heat licensing risks and ensuring appropriate control measures and policies are developed, implemented and monitored throughout all work
  • Ensuring a high quality of deliverables when recommending new licensed schemes or providing new guidance for our customers
  • Representing the Authority on matters of mine energy licensing with Government bodies and others as may be required.
  • Ensuring that the Authoritys statutory responsibilities relating to mine energy licensing are appropriately discharged

What were looking for in ourPrincipal Manager:

  • A Degree level qualification in mining, engineering, geotechnical or related field, or extensive demonstrable experience
  • Significant experience in engineering, geotechnical engineering and Development
  • Experience in managing and delivering regulatory services
  • Experience in managing a delivery team
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Good report writing skills
  • The ability to attend Field Visits and overnight stays
