The Human Resources Assistant is a member of the Human Resources department and part of the Human Services division. This individual works together with others in support of the company's mission to provide excellent patient care every day.

Primary Purpose:

The Human Resources Assistant provides clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources department requiring a working knowledge of departmental procedures. This position may serve as the “face” of Human Services and the 560 Building providing customer service to employees and visitors in person and over the telephone. Performs various activities including, scanning, filing, data entry into the HRIS, maintaining HR records and handling of confidential information. Performs HR support duties under general supervision.

Essential Functions:

Provides customer service to triage questions from employees and visitors to the 560 building
Screens telephone calls and business visitors and applies departmental knowledge in response to questions; routes inquiries to appropriate personnel.
Uses a good measure of personal tact, integrity and judgment when dealing with internal and external contacts. Enters and maintains HRIS data with accuracy
Handles confidential correspondence and documents.
Responsible for processing employee status changes by ensuring they are accurate and processed in a timely manner.
Processes tuition reimbursement requests for employees and their dependents.
Creates, organizes and maintains electronic files for employees Including I9 verification, education and certification documentation as needed.
Requests physical employee files from storage as requested.
Assists with audits by working with the Compliance and Quality Department as well as Human Services Leadership
Orders supplies for the department as well as providing general administrative support as needed for Human Resources staff.
Assists the Engagement team with various activities.
May plan and coordinate corporate and recognition events
May assist the Benefits Team with general questions for employees on ARUP benefits and leaves of absence.
May assist the Compensation Analyst with updating job descriptions and tracking salary quotes.
Provides backup coverage to the receptionist at the 500 Facility.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Other Requirements:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently and effectively communicate with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires the use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.


High School Diploma or Equivalent or better.
