Hubbardton Forge employs approximately 250 people in Vermont and is one of the country's oldest and largest continuously operating commercial forges today. It all started with two guys, an old barn and some borrowed tools. They had big ideas and a passion for design, respect for high-quality craftsmanship and a belief in the importance of tradition. For more than 45 years, Hubbardton Forge artisans have handcrafted each product, one at a time, right here in Vermont.
Wash, Unload and Kit
Receive loaded carts from weld.
Visually assess amount and color of materials on carts. Order carts for wash, beginning with major colors first.
Kit product as necessary for wash.
Load product and parts into wash baskets.
Follow procedure to turn on wash machine.
Accurately test water on machinery and recognize need to add or adjust chemicals for proper operation.
Enter wash machine information into log book.
Follow processes to wash and dry products.
Review procedure to turn off wash machine.
Remove basket from drying oven.
Separate and kit product. Arrange on carts by color.
Follow procedures for building product as applicable.
Clean product as necessary.
Review work order to confirm that all necessary pieces have been built and/or included on cart.
Stage product carts for powder coat line.
Line Load and Unload
Inspect parts to confirm all products are clean for powder finish process.
Plug, cap, cover and hang products on finish line according to hanging instructions. Ensure that products hang appropriately for efficient powder coat process.
Unload product from finish line and visually inspect according to quality specifications.
Arrange product on cart and stage for assembly.
Complete required paperwork.
Set up powder coating equipment and materials.
Spray product with finish according to specifications.
Adjust overhead conveyor to control line movement according to spray speed guidelines.
Identify mechanical problems and seek appropriate assistance as needed.
Clean booth and powder coat area upon completing finish process.
Perform booth switchovers as becomes applicable.
