EVENT AND MARKETING INTERN
CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester Cultural Development Division seeks interns to assist in City of Worcester and Worcester Cultural Coalition marketing and special event program coordination. Qualified interns will illustrate an interest in cultural, economic, and community development, as well as marketing, writing, and event promotion and coordination. Intern duties may include, but are not limited to: writing and creating content (i.e. press releases, social media posts, email blasts, website posts); assisting with grant application processes; data collection and management; communicating with vendors and members of the public; producing graphic design items; distributing promotional materials; assisting with in-person and virtual event coordination, setup/breakdown, and tabling subject to appropriate social distancing measures; and conducting administrative assignments. Candidates must have an enthusiasm for public sector work, possess a good sense of humor and be an organized self-starter. Some weekends and night time hours may be required. Some physical work may be required - interns must be able to lift 30-50 pounds of weight. Must have access to a computer and phone. Other duties may arise depending on individual interests and departmental need.

The Event and Marketing Intern will work remotely and/or in person contingent upon COVID-19 guidelines.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Excellent time management and attention to detail
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Customer service experience
* Graphic design experience: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Publisher, Lightroom, or equivalent
* Knowledge of social media/communication platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
* Data management and administrative experience

SALARY: $15.00 hourly, part-time, temporary, non-benefitted.
