Faculty-Digital Designer: Full-time position teaching digital based design and new media courses including web design, motion graphics, digital illustration, interactive design and secondary topics that may include packaging design, semiotics/symbology, typography, identity systems, virtual and/or professional design practices. Additional responsibilities may include oversight of an Apple iMac computer graphics lab with Adobe Cloud software packages or our digital design prototyping lab. Other departmental/university responsibilities may include campus governance, academic advising, program planning, assessment, our student design organization, and curriculum development. The appointment is scheduled to begin August 2022 on the Joplin, MO campus, with rank and tenure status dependent on qualifications. Requirements: MFA in Design, MDes, or other related terminal degree. Applicant should possess an enthusiasm and commitment to undergraduate teaching and a demonstrated record of excellence in research, scholarship, design, or creative practice.
Preference will be given to applicants with 2+ years previous college/university teaching experience and/or 2+ years professional design experience trained to teach a range of contemporary media, techniques, materials, issues, and concepts in design. Candidates who could contribute to the departmental or university international programming-including those with expertise in Scandinavian design or those with expertise that would support development of our upcoming campus Center for Digital Media and Virtual Production would be especially attractive.
