Boston Dynamics is looking for an experienced Reliability engineer who will champion reliability across the corporation and be intimately involved in our concurrent product development.
The candidate will actively facilitate and participate in improvement of new product development processes and design for reliability initiatives. The position requires active and continuous interaction with manufacturing, engineering, marketing, and supply chain to ensure reliability requirements are well defined, understood, incorporated and met in our processes and products.
You will be responsible for:
Using Design for Reliability (DfR), define and implement Reliability Program Plans for new and existing products.
Working in a cross-functional team to help define and mitigate design risks through application of good engineering practices and lessons learned.
Performing life estimate calculations for components and modules to set design requirements and goals to meet system level reliability requirements.
Defining and managing requirements and plans for system, module, and component level testing to validate previous life estimates.
Reviewing models, drawings, and specifications for test fixtures
Participating in root cause and corrective actions activities, from identification through implementation and measurement of effectiveness through the FRB process.
Providing expertise and guidance for critical part selection through derating and risk analysis for mechanical and electrical competencies.
Supporting both new product introductions (NPI) and sustaining engineering activities at our production sites.
5+ years of experience in a Reliability, Quality, or System Engineering position or similar.
Ideally 3+ years of experience in designing and implementing Reliability programs and testing plans for industries- robotics, medical, aerospace
BS/MS in HW engineering, statistics, or equivalent.
Experience in structural, vibrational, and thermal testing and data analysis of electro-mechanical actuators and sensors
Experience in test stand development and validation testing preferred
Expert knowledge of Reliability and Quality processes, such as 8D, FTA, RCA, DOE, HALT/HASS, Reliability Growth and Demonstration Testing.
Experience working with electro-mechanical systems that contain complex software behaviors.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting electromechanical assemblies is a plus.
Demonstrated expertise with Excel, Weibull ++/ Minitab/JMP, as well as common statistical concepts and software packages.
Knowledge of CAD tools- CATIA or equivalent (NX/ Solidworks) preferred
Proven skill with summarizing and presenting complex test data and test status in an informative and easily understood manner.
Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
Experience working in high stress ambiguous environment
ASQ CRE certification is a plus.
Tolerance analysis and strong understanding of GD&T is a big plus
