Position Description The University of Northern Colorado, School of Nursing is searching for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Nursing, who has a promising or established program of research synergistic with emphases of the department or other units on campus, with an expectation of dissemination and engagement in professional activities at the local, regional, national, and international levels. Ideally, the candidate for this position would be able to provide expertise in research and scholarship to programs offered through the School of Nursing, teach courses consistent with areas of nursing expertise, and engage in service at the community, departmental and university levels. Primary duties include: engagement in program of research, including securing internal/external funding to support efforts, advise and mentor doctoral students, teach in areas of expertise, and participate in service and faculty governance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A doctoral degree in nursing or related field
  • Current, unencumbered, CO RN and/or APRN license (or ability to obtain RN/APRN license in CO)
  • Two years clinical nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching in nursing
  • Experience with and an interest in innovative, engaged teaching methods
  • Knowledgeable about culturally responsive teaching methods
  • National Certification as a Nursing Educator
  • Dissemination of research and/or other creative scholarly works

Compensation for this position includes an approximate salary of $60,000 - $65,000 for a 9-month contract. Additional teaching opportunities over the 3 month summer contract may also be available. Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
