Minimum QualificationsThe Department of Sociology has established a minimum threshold for tested experience when determining faculty qualifications by means other than earned credential (MA or higher in Sociology). To be considered qualified through tested experience, a faculty member must meet at least two of the following criteria:
* Substantial (minimum 18 credits) graduate-level academic coursework relevant to sociological theories, approaches, and methods, as designated by inclusion in the American Sociological Association's topics and sections (www.asanet.org);
* A record of exceptional research, professional activity, or achievement relevant to sociological theories, approaches, and methods, as designated by inclusion in the American Sociological Association's topics and sections (www.asanet.org);
* Relevant certifications, licensure, or additional credentials relevant to sociological theories, approaches, and methods, as designated by inclusion in the American Sociological Association's topics and sections (www.asanet.org).
Master's in Sociology. Past record of successful college-level teaching experience in Sociology. Experience using the Canvas platform is advantageous.

Salary and BenefitsSalary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
