Location and CommunityThe University of Northern Colorado is located in Greeley, Colorado. The city has a population of 110,000 and is perfectly situated on the high plains with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. One hour north of Denver and a little over an hour east of Rocky Mountain National Park, Greeley has a distinct small-town feel and a downtown that is designated as a Colorado Creative District. Additional Information:This position is contingent on funding from the Colorado State Legislature and approval by the Board of Trustees, and is subject to the policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado. Physical Demands Job Summary This position has a workload distribution of 80% teaching (4-4 teaching load), and 20% service. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate potential for teaching excellence in traditional and online settings, and participating in department, college, and community service activities. Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or a closely related field is preferred. ABDs will be considered; appointment would be at the rank of Lecturer with commensurate salary. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with a terminal degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or a closely related field, and teaching interests in: courts, diversity, and ethics in criminal justice. Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%.
