Sr. Manager, Reporting and Analytics Technology

Specifically, your role in The Home Depot Canada will place you at the center of one of the top retailers in Canada that is experiencing an exciting growth trajectory.

You will work with Technology teams and business partners to understand strategic initiatives as well as deliver leading-edge capabilities that support Home Depot Canada’s retail business. You will apply advanced problem-solving techniques and coordinate with other core team members to resolve system issues, maintain complex business logic and identify and implement innovative solutions.

Reporting into the Director, Technology, the Sr. Manager, Technology will work to develop data, reporting, and analytics enablement solutions for The Home Depot Canada division. Utilizing industry-leading technologies, he/she will work with Technology teams and business partners to understand strategic initiatives and deliver leading edge analytics capabilities. The Sr. Manager will be expected to apply advanced problem-solving techniques and coordinate with core team members to identify and implement innovative solutions supporting complex business logic.

The Sr. Manager will work closely with internal and external constituents and be charged with executing projects against aggressive schedules. He/she will manage the project life cycles, from requirements definition to production implementation, with emphasis on design, development, testing, implementations and support. As the principal driver of these initiatives, this person will work across functional groups to coordinate efforts and ensure success


  • Lead the Reporting/Big Data/Analytics space to drive value for key business strategies including technology assessment, use case development, as well as solution outline and design (conceptual, logical & technical) for modern (big) data & analytics architectures.
  • Builds relationship with key users across the Home Depot Canada organization to enable the right technology and solutions.
  • Manages and tracks the progress of multiple cross-functional projects. Conduct regular project reviews. All within an Agile Framework.
  • Works with internal Technology organization to coordinate operational and project.
  • Manages and provides technical and business direction that affects capacity planning, new applications, data security, and LAN systems, among others.
  • Resolves information services problems by analyzing issues, discerning the most appropriate courses of action, providing tactical direction and, when necessary, reallocating resources.
  • Provides operations analysis and consults to internal clients on business process improvement.
  • Conducts financial analyses to support strategic planning on system purchases, upgrades, and reclamation. Negotiates favorable prices with vendors on hardware and software.
  • Communicates status of activities with the team, peers, management, and end users.
  • Selects, develops and motivates assigned staff

Experience / Knowledge Required:

  • Internal Candidates: Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M+, Meets expectation, consistently demonstrates).
  • Excellent communicator, able to adapt presentations to different target audience across business and Technology
  • Proven experience leading implementation of large Business Analytics solutions supported by technologies at scale
  • Extensive experience in data engineering, big data, reporting and analytics solutions in multiple Platforms
  • A Bachelor' s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
  • People leadership/supervisory skills
  • 10 plus years’ experience in related field is preferred, over 4 years of which are in a manager capacity.
  • Proficiency with the Home Depot software architecture, methodology and governance.
  • Business and financial analysis skills
  • Presentation, facilitation and writing skills
  • Experience working with Enterprise class analytics technology stacks including Data Warehouse Platforms, Big Data Platforms and Reporting Technologies
  • Experience in Cloud platforms such as: Google Big query, Azure or others
  • Experience with Machine Learning, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Predictive Analytics related technologies
  • Experience in SAP technologies will be considered an asset
