Our global motorcycle manufacturing client is urgently looking to fill the following role:

Concept Engineer Motorcycle Accessories - Up to £45k p.a. + Benefits - Leicestershire

As a Concept Engineer for Genuine Motorcycle Accessories (GMA), your role will involve working with cross functional teams in Concept, Industrial Design, Product Strategy and Product Development. At the outset you will work to creatively explore concept solutions for a wide range of accessory products alongside each motorcycle concept development, allowing Product Managers and those downstream in the product development process to understand the art of the possible and what could be achieved.

Key responsibilities:
Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Generate concept design of accessory systems and components for new motorcycle projects to allow Product Managers to define robust product specifications for other teams to deliver
Work with Industrial Design to resolve any early conflicts between initial concept requirements and potential Industrial Design theme.
- Communicate and develop Design intent through sketching, image editing & 3D modelling where appropriate
- Produce good quality 3D CAD models using Creo
- Ownership and coordination of concept development and feasibility testing activities to prove concept
- Produce supporting documentation and presentations detailing concept development process
- Understand existing products both internally and externally through technical benchmarking and analysis of competitive products through personal experience
- Translate strategic and functional objectives into technical requirements to allow Product Requirement Documents to be written
- Liaise with internal departments such as Concept Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Strategy and Product Development
- Manage time and workload effectively
- Represent the concept engineering team in interdepartmental meetings in the absence of the team lead
- Manage any CAD Designers or contractors allocated to help with creating CAD models.
- Provide engineering guidance to other team members.

As the Concept Engineer you will be measured on OTIF delivery on various goals and performance indicators. These will depend on the focus area for the year. Overall success of your role will depend on the
following measures but not limited to:
- Release of 3D and 2D designs against timing plan deadlines
- Release of supporting design information and calculations to allow robust product development
- Improvement in the link between Product Strategy and Design by aligning the product requirements and engineering feasibility
- Improved efficiency of the concept phase of the project
- Establishment of fundamental packaging issues, constraints and feasibilities
- Creation of fully laid, structured CAD schemes
- Mule bike and styling bike support through prototype and proof of concept models and prototypes

Skills and Experience:
- Education to Degree level or equivalent preferred.
- A proven track record is paramount, an advanced understanding of vehicle design to senior design engineer standard, ideally for motorcycles, is a requirement.
- A strong degree of engineering experience
- Highly skilled in CAD modelling, ideally in Creo.
- Experience in PLM system usage (particularly Windchill)
- Ability to work on a wide variety of components & projects at one time, balancing workload and prioritising to create the optimum output.
- Ability to create full detailed design drawings
- Great attention to detail
- Good understanding of mechanical design requirements for typical automotive applications e.g. fastening systems, sealing solutions, manufacturing techniques.
- Desirable to have a motorcycle licence
- Ability to use own initiative when working under pressure
- Must be a team player and be able to work closely with multidisciplinary team members. Flexibility and Adaptability are key
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Can do attitude. Should have initiative and confidence to get stuck in and get their hands dirty.
- The ability to balance styling & engineering requirements without prejudice while meeting attribute, feasibility, cost & weight considerations through a sound knowledge of the latest techniques & materials. Be a natural problem solver
