Service Designer

Great opportunity for a Process Engineer / Process Designer with experience of designing and developing processes in technical service environments. You will be responsible for owning the National Roads Telecommunications Services (NRTS) business processes for Telent. With our agile working policy, you can predominantly work from home, with base location being your nearest Telent office.

Reporting to the Service Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Process improvements against the Telent Highways Service Operations designs and Programmes
Process improvement proposals following from process audits.
Business case for process improvements, as required.
Carry out tests to ensure that any process changes are properly tested and proved prior to rollout
Test, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of operational processes
Utilising Lean methodologies challenge and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes
Carry out cost / performance benefit analysis and evaluate and document the impact of any process change
Monitor the impact of any process changes and the effectiveness of the change
Ensure all operational changes follow the change control process.
Ownership of the contractual processes and Lean process of non-contractual processes including:
Documenting and control of all processes ensuring that a consistent format is employed and that processes are up to date and available as appropriate via SMS systems
Performance data analysis and by carrying out audits and process walkthroughs
Ensure cause and effect analysis is carried out prior to changing processes
Ensure contractual process changes are managed through the Change Management procedure and
Ensure that all non-contractual operational process change is managed through the Change Management Procedure

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

Experience of developing processes and service solutions for complex multi-technology solutions in Telecoms / IT service environments
ITIL v4 foundation qualified
Experience of process design and development within a LEAN environment
Demonstrable understanding of support and maintenance, service operations, and commercial structures
Service focussed with an understanding of Telecoms / IT technical solutions
Excellent communication skills, with experience of working with customers and suppliers to achieve shared goals
Proven experience creating process documentation including MS Visio (or similar) skills
Preferably experience in producing processes and service content for bid responses & pre-sales proposals
Ability to obtain SC level security clearance

The NRTS programme:

Highways England have awarded telent the contract for the operation and management of NRTS2 (National Roads Telecommunication Services), NRTS is the network of communication and control that Highways England uses to monitor and manage England?s motorways and major trunk roads, it is a critical component of national infrastructure supporting the country?s 4,400mile strategic road network.

The contract includes a major technology transformation programme in addition to general maintenance and management of the network; The transformation programme comprises of 11 technology projects, including the introduction of new wireless and IP CCTV services, new management systems and the next-generation upgrade of all technology, this will ultimately enable Highways England to prepare for the future and enable safer roads, more efficient delivery and a better road user experience.
