Network Engineer

Network Engineer | Permanent | South Oxford area
Mixture of home and office location working but with 3/4 days expected to be onsite.

Technically competent and self-sufficient Network Engineer required for a mid-senior level Engineering role. Mixture of c.60% BAU and 40% projects; they need someone with the drive to deliver new technology where needed and make an input into solutions, contribute to lifecycle management and technology roadmap and support projects from an implementation planning, proposal and delivery point of view.

Fortinet Security Portfolio - Forti - Manager, Forti - Analyzer
F5 BIG IP and Silverline Web Access Filtering (WAF)
Telephony (SIP/VOIP/SCCP) - Cisco VOIP telephony and Jabber softphone
But more broadly, supporting Networks, Switches, Firewalls, Load Balancers, specifically installing, configuring and supporting datastores, VMware, Citrix, ADFS, Active Directory, backups, WAN, VOIP, LAN - Wi-fi, Switch and Firewall network.
Provide support and expand the existing network and storage services.
Produce quality documentation and support knowledge sharing.
Supporting team members, end users, department heads and directors.
Contribute to strategic planning and setting technical direction for the department.
Input into infrastructure and networking technology roadmap.
Project planning and documentation including proposals - needing excellent HLD/LLD design documentation skills.
Peer review documentation within the team
Attend Change Management meetings to present proposed changes

Essential :
Deep understanding of:
Fortinet Security Portfolio incl. Forti - Manager, Forti - Analyzer
F5 BIG IP and Silverline (or other) Web Access Filtering (WAF)
Telephony and cloud solution integration (SIP/VOIP/SCCP) (Cisco and Jabber ideal but not essential)
Desirable :
Expertise with general firewall, Switches and AP configuration and support, including IPsec VPN configuration and troubleshooting
Strong experience in network traffic monitoring, analysis, packet capture, and troubleshooting
Ability to carry out automated server and network patching and schedule management
VMWare and Citrix Maintenance and Management
Backup maintenance and management
Understanding security and infrastructure protection
Active Directory maintenance and management
SolarWinds Systems Management
SAN Storage (DELL/IBM/HP) maintenance and management
Work location and patterns:
Oxford area, will be required to be onsite 3/4 days per week.
Some on-call and weekend working on a 1 in 4 weekly rota
