Service Charge Accountant - 6 month FTC

Macdonald & Company are working with a Property Investment Company who are a part of the FTSE250. The business are looking for a Service Charge Accountant to join them on a 6 month Fixed-Term Contract. The role will be based in Central London whilst also allowing the ability to work remotely throughout the working week. Responsibilities: - Provide and support the service charge budget and reconciliation processes by completing assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner. - Undertake quarterly reviews of all service charge expenses on assigned properties to check for posting accuracy. Provide summary reports to the Property & Facilities Managers. - Perform such quarterly, half yearly, and annual period end accounting tasks as are required by the Companys group reporting timetable. - Assist the property & facilities managers with the creation of the annual service charge budgets and associated reports and analyses. - Checking and reviewing the quarterly service charge demands for accuracy - Review service charge caps and update MRI when changes are required - Prepare the year end service charge reconciliation accounts for the property manager to review, having consulted with the facilities manager prior. - Working with the management accountants monitor non-recoverable & capital expenditure and assist with internal reporting. Assist with analysis large scale projects for recoverable & non-recoverable expenses. - Maintenance of tenant & property details in MRI. - Administer the service charge issues relating to new and expiring leases that arise from time to time. - Assist in the analysis of service charge accounts during the due diligence of new acquisitions and aid the disposal of assets as instructed by the Head of Property Management. About You: - The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience as a service charge accountant. - A good technical background, demonstrating a good working knowledge of the RICS Code of Service Charge Practice, the principles of recoverability, and able to read and understand lease terms. - Financially literature and with excellent accuracy and attention to detail. - Experience in calculating and maintaining service charge caps, including complicated caps with exclusions by cost heading or schedule. - Preferably experienced with MRI, demonstrating a high competence in Excel and the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
