Job Description Summary

AAM-Ridgway is looking for high character individuals to be Die Setters. We offer competitive compensation and a clean work environment. Experienced Die Setters are a plus but if you are mechanically inclined and have a desire to learn you can be part of our robust trainee program.
This role is responsible for safety, quality, and productivity within your assigned work area. Key functions include setting up and adjusting various sizes presses to ensure parts are produced within specification. Perform any necessary adjustments at set ups and to check accuracy during production. Ensure the quality production of their assigned jobs at expected production level.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Environment/Safety Requirements.

Understand Safety Program.

  • Lockout/tag out

  • Confined Space

  • Work Area Organization (5S)

Provides support to Manufacturing by participating in problem solving and continuous improvement projects to enhance quality and reduce scrap.

May initiate quality alerts to communicate changes in control plans, process instructions or acceptance standards.

Functional understanding of Statistical Processing.

  • May be asked to train Operators in SPC

Know and understand which control dimensions, weight, etc., represent statistical control for the part being molded.

Coordinates Prototype, tool layout, and PPAP activities and ensures customer requirements are secure.

Sets the example to maintain the Manufacturing Quality Plan:

Process FMEA, in conjunction with the Engineering Control Plans/Reaction Plans, Process Sheets, Work Instructions, Standardized Work, and JSA’s to ensure quality

Monitors on-going product quality and processing by maintaining daily contact with manufacturing

Thorough understanding of the following:

  • All press functions (set up, operation, maintenance, etc.).

  • Mix changes, cleaning, cut ups and weight adjustments.

  • Internal/external customer

Start up, shut down, monitors and adjusts delube process according to Control Plan.

Provides support and training to facilitate a safe manufacturing environment.

2nd or 3rd shifts positions (shift differential)

Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education

High School Diploma or GED certification.

Die Setter training class or equivalent work experience in production preferred.

Forklift Training/License (will train).
