Quality Lead

Title:  Quality Team Lead
Location:  South Plainfield, NJ
Duration:  Contract to Hire
Schedule:  1st and 2nd shift available 
Target Start Date:  ASAP

  • Coordinate activities of quality functions to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products.  
  • Analyze components & bulk materials in order to support production demands.
  • Partner effectively with Customer Project Management group, warehouse and other departments as needed to support and execute the production plan. 
  • Effectively use the Monarch system for demand analysis, PO placement, updating specifications, BOM analysis and general problem solving.
  • Utilizes customer’s systems such as SAP and other portals for retrieving data and other functions related to Production Quality.
  • Partner with QA team as needed to certify new materials, obtain relevant documentation and proactively resolve quality issues.
  • Work with customers for new item start-ups and review to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Supports management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and goals with respect to Quality.
  • Conducts meetings to establish, delineate and review program organizational policies, to coordinate functions and operations between departments and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attainting quality objectives.
  • Confers with manufacturing/sales/management about quality assurance of new products designed and manufactured products on market to rectify problems.
  • Maintains standards and verifies policies for quality control.
  • Maintains knowledge of current government and industry quality standards including but not limited to FDA, ISO, global standards, etc.
  • Directly supervises Production Quality staff and employees within these departments.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for GMP training as well as training programs within relevant departments.
  • Enforces SOPs and GMPs with Quality team and other teams related to pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Investigates nonconformances related to customer complaints, reworks, supplier nonconformances and internal nonconformances.
  • Maintains records related to jobs, reworks, customer complaints, corrective action plans, preventive actions and legal retains.
  • Daily reporting of nonconformaces, complaints, issues related to product and GMPs and maintain for tracking and trending purposes.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Associate degree, BA/BS degree from four-year college or university
  • Approx. 4+ years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, permits, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
