Summary

The Companion/Homemaker provides companionship to those individuals requiring socialization and/or minimum guidance to assure a protected environment and performs home management services within the client's home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to:

  • LIGHT HOUSEKEEPING
  • ERRANDS
  • MEAL PREPARATION
  • MEAL PLANNING
  • ACCOMPANY CLIENT TO APPTS
  • GROCERY SHOPPING
  • COMPANIONSHIP
  • STIMULATING CONVERSATION
  • ACCOMPANY CLIENT ON WALKS
  • ACCOMPANY CLIENT ON SOCIAL OUTING
  • MEDICATION REMINDERS

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the Homemaker/Companion must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively with client, family members, management, and staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to complete Homemaker and Companion documentation.

REASONABLE ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to deal with simple problems in the home setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Homemaker/Companion to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work requires light physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis such as driving and light housekeeping.

While performing duties of this job, the Homemaker/Companion is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach, stoop, crouch, talk or hear, taste or smell. The Homemaker and Companion is occasionally required to sit. The Homemaker/Companion must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Preferred)

Communication skills, light housekeeping skills, cooking, cleaning, and shopping. Good physical and mental health. Caring attitude, patience, and good personal hygiene.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
