The MnDOT Office of Audit is a great place to work because we assist the agency in mitigating risk of fraud, waste, and abuse and provide leadership with assurance on the status of internal controls throughout the agency.

As a MnDOT Auditor, you will conduct audits for special agreements between MnDOT and outside entities. In addition, you will audit the financial systems in use by private contractors and government entities. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting desk audits and assisting in field audits of claims submitted under special agreements
  • Presenting financial and operational reports consistently, fairly and accurately
  • Assisting experienced auditors in conducting complex field audits to gain experience in all phases of work
  • Developing and updating permanent audit files

This position will have the option to telework; the employee will be required to complete a telework agreement.

Occasional in-state travel is required (up to 25% of time), including some overnight stays.

A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (with an accounting concentration) OR one year of professional accounting or auditing experience OR two years of technical experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Experience conducting financial audits and/or assisting other auditors on financial audits.
  • Experience applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), operational auditing concepts and compliance with auditing principles.
  • Experience researching, interpreting and analyzing data.
