Northrop Grumman Space Systems
is searching for experienced Designers 2 to join the Mechanical Engineering Team within Launch Vehicles business unit located in either Huntsville, AL or in Chandler, AZ.

The Designer will create models and engineering drawings utilizing Unigraphics NX12 and Teamcenter. Will also be responsible for checking drawing/design packages for proper content and to ensure compliance with applicable industry and military standards. Duties will include checking designs for fit, function, manufacturability, and economy of fabrication and be able to perform tolerance analysis. Responsibility will further include liaison with Engineering, Manufacturing, quality, and Materials. Some vendor liaison will be required as well.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Must be a graduate of a CAD/Drafting/Design/Computer Aided program or equivalent experience
  • Must be experienced with Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD Package and Teamcenter PLM
  • Must be experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerating per ASME Y14.5M-1994 (2009 preferred)
  • A working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and Mil-Standard 100 is also desired.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
  • Fundamental knowledge of CAD drafting practices
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately while under schedule pressure and exhibit a large degree of patience
  • Strong time management and organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidate possess a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Holds DoD Secret Clearance or higher is preferred

Salary Range: 46200 - 77000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
