Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Manager Tool Die Making 2 to join our Tooling team in Palmdale, CA.

In this role you will manage tool activities across multiple classified programs and be responsible for program and technical performance while providing objective-oriented direction to hard lined or dotted line reporting personnel, utilizing management guidelines & general policies, ensuring that projects/designs are completed on schedule and within budget.


The Manager Tool Die Making 2 should be familiar with project management, cost and schedule management. Duties and responsibilities of the role include: Supervises employees involved in the fabrication of tools, building of jigs and fixtures, template and pattern making, and model building insuring. Tooling support of build/maintenance for production transition and sustained efforts; and supports the promotion of consistent current and common tool sets & processes across the organization, by collaborating with other Aerospace Systems Sector Tooling Management; Monitoring and managing Risk items to insure mitigating actions are effective and timely and promotes Lean, Knowledge Management, and other process improvement initiatives as well as sharing of lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization; Management duties including personnel performance evaluation, merit planning, employee development, and utilization of EVMS to manage direct costs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED and 7 years experience in a project management, business management, industrial engineering, tool engineering, manufacturing engineering, or finance environment

  • Minimum of 2 years leadership experience

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly of Excel spreadsheets

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special program access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Degree

  • Current and active DoD Secret clearance

  • Cost Account Management (CAM) experience

  • Earned Value Mgmt. (EVMS) experience

  • Firm understanding how to capture and record important data, utilize pivot tables and using shortcuts and formula functions, ability to generate metrics using charts and graphs

  • Special Program Access

  • Tooling experience or manufacturing engineering experience



Salary Range: 116200 - 174200

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
