Currently, we are looking to add a Specialist, Regulatory and Safety to our team:

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage the Hazard Communication Program:
    • Assist with the development and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for Cayman Chemical products using ChemGes software
    • Use various databases to obtain chemical and toxicological data for SDSs
    • Upload completed SDSs and pertinent regulatory data for products into Cayman Chemical’s internal product database
    • Assist in the management of SDSs for Cayman Chemical raw materials by ensuring that SDSs are accessible in the vendor supported SDSOnline database
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of company plans and programs to ensure compliance with federal (OSHA), state (MIOSHA), and local occupational safety laws:
  • Emergency Action Plan
  • Medical Emergency Plan
  • Fire Prevention Plan
  • Lab Safety and Chemical Hygiene Plan
  • Hazard Communication Plan
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan
  • Permit-Required Confined Space Entry
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Assist with the Cayman controlled substance program and implementation of U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) regulations
  • Assist with the preparation of regulatory reports (e.g., Air Emissions Report (MAERS), Washtenaw County Pollution Prevention Report, Tier II, Toxic Release Inventory, RCRA Biennial, DEA ARCOS, DEA Inventory)
  • Prepare KDR Letters of Confirmation (Korea), Certificates of Origin (European Union), and export documentation (NAFTA, Bureau of Industry and Security)
  • Conduct routine inspections of safety equipment including first aid kits, safety glasses, AED units, fire extinguishers, and safety showers; ensure supplies are stocked
  • Participate on Cayman’s Emergency Response Team

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma, Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • Experience: Two years
  • Computer Skills: Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with regulations such as OSHA/MIOSHA, EPA/MDEQ, DEA, and NFPA and ANSI standards
  • Complete required trainings including, but not limited to, RCRA/hazardous waste, DOT, and IATA (International Air Transport Association)
  • Basic understanding of chemistry
  • Able to think critically, analyze complex data, perform under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, be organized and pay attention to detail
