FABRICATOR/WELDOR

Experienced in a variety of practices and techniques related to welding

Operational knowledge of manufacturing and welding applying TIG and MIG

Profound knowledge of operating general metal shop equipment and tools

Familiarity with executing welding operations in compliance with Westport standards and safety policies

  • Spot welding sheet metal assemblies (steel and aluminum)
  • MIG and TIG welding
  • Hammer forming
  • Part qualifying
  • Brake press/machining and Bridgeport operation
  • Weld quality products in a timely matter with precision and efficiency
  • Work with Management to create precise products
  • Partner with the mechanic to sustain maintenance and repairs
  • Understand mechanics, working closely with Mechanics and Shop Foreman
  • Clean and maintain equipment and facility
  • Operate equipment safely, efficiently, effectively and respectfully while maximizing the capabilities of the equipment
  • Optimize machine setup
  • Manipulate controls and setup to properly, activate, adjust and operate equipment
  • Maintain and repair machinery
  • Utilize big picture goal, to influence detail decisions
  • Understand objective, then act to optimize the outcome
  • Foresee problems and implement preventative solutions
  • Perform logical troubleshooting (assessing a problem, developing a strategy and completing a job well and efficiently)
  • Act as project leader when asked
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blue prints, welding process specifications, and job traveler.
  • Required to accurately log in/out of jobs and report quantities completed/scrapped.
  • Verify print matches part being fabricated/welded.
  • Notify supervisor of quality/tolerance issues, prior to running job.
  • Maintain tolerances and finish quality on job during production and upon completion.
  • Have quality control check first part with red dot on work card for approval to run.
  • Maintain and perform daily and scheduled maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Check parts using approved tools from quality control and sign off on job cards before moving job to next operation.
  • Involve quality control and engineers if parts found to be out of tolerance.
  • Must use basic hand-held measuring tools.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be capable of reading blueprints
