Medical Scribe

A well- established busy Neurology, Epilepsy and Sleep Medicine clinic, with several locations has an immediate opening for an experience-driven candidate who is pursuing a career in the medical field to join our team as a Medical Scribe. A Medical Scribe is essentially a personal assistant to the healthcare provider; performing documentation in the EHR, gathering information for the patient’s visit, and partnering with the provider to deliver the pinnacle of effective patient care. The medical scribe will be trained to participate in medical research and also assist in performing certain tests on patients.

Location: Sugar Land.

Hours: 7:30am-4:30pm or 8am-5pm

Position: Full time

Position Summary

The duties of the medical scribe will include but not limited to the following:

  • Shadow the provider throughout the patient clinic visit and chart provider’s encounter with the patient into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and existing templates.
  • Ensure complete, accurate and timely documentation of medical information as spoken/verbatim by the provider.
  • List diagnosis and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as mentioned by the provider.
  • Generate referral letters as directed by the provider, manage and sort medical document within the EHR system.
  • Clarifies dictation that is unclear or incomplete, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Must comply with specific standards that apply to the style of medical records and to the legal and ethical requirements for preparing medical documents and for keeping patient information confidential.
  • Compliance with company policies, including those relating to HIPAA confidentiality standards when assessing or communicating patient information.
  • Perform medical research by coordinating clinical research to ensure that research complies with federal and institutional guidelines (training provided).
  • Perform certain tests on patients using computers (training provided).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to increase provider effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity for improved patient flow and satisfaction.


  • High school diplomas required. Pre-Health career track, (pre-med, pre-PA, pre-nursing) preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience as a medical scribe strongly preferred.
  • Prior EMR/EMR experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Adept in MS Office programs including Outlook.
  • Strong keyboarding proficiency (60WPM)

  • Position may require work at more than one location during a scheduled workweek

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
