Residential Nurse LPN

The Residential Nurse position requires the individual to relate to the physical, emotional, and the medical needs of each child in the residential programs of the agency. It is important that the nurse sets realistic and positive standards of conduct and morality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with scheduling doctor’s appointments and arranging transportation.
  • Assist with ensuring medical information for each child in the files is accurate, complete and up to date.
  • Assist with ensuring each child has a current physical, dental, eye and hearing examinations and all immunizations required by state law.
  • Respond to colds, fevers, and routine health care as needed.
  • Secure necessary written approval before medical procedures are executed and Psychotropic medication is dispensed.
  • Assist with training staff about Blood-borne Pathogens, Hepatitis B vaccine and medication policies to all employees.
  • Participate in staff meetings when necessary to provide medical information to staff for residents with major medical needs.
  • Responsible for risk management efforts that reduce risk and liabilities to the organization, assure compliance with relevant legal and licensure requirements, and improve services to client populations.

LPN or Licensed RN in state of Illinois. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum of one year experience working with children preferred. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
