Maintenance Technician

Hire Dynamics is currently assisting a local client in their search to fill a Maintenance Technician job in Mebane, NC. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and testing production equipment before they are used for making and/or baking or wrapping and boxing products marketed and sold to major corporate customers or members of the public. They ensure production line equipment is working exactly as intended and is free of defects or other issues. Maintenance Technician work as part of a larger team, frequently interacting with Production Line Operators, Leads and Supervisors, other Technicians, and Quality Assurance personnel. This client in Mebane, NC is significantly expanding -- building two new lines and are seeking individuals to come join their growing team.

Pay: $24.50 - $35.80 / hour


· 2-2-3 Swing 6:30am-7:00pm

· 2-2-3 Swing 6:30pm-7:00am

· May work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and rotating shifts.

Essential Job functions and key result areas for this Maintenance Technician job include:

· Ensures the proper operation of production machines and installations by performing corrective and preventative maintenance according to prescribed procedures and guidelines for quality and productivity.

· Troubleshoots mechanical problems with equipment, devices, or installations om the cookie lines as well the fruit snack lines. As the plant expands as planned other product lines may be introduced.

· Changes, adjusts, and fine-tunes packaging machines depending on production demand. Sets up and operates production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices (GPM) and standard operating procedures.

· Analyzes process data and makes decisions on equipment maintenance and improvement activities.

· Repairs machines or systems using the needed tools and processes or procedures.

· Test’s production line systems to ensure proper operation.

· Monitor’s cookie, fruit snacks, or other products after changing the machine settings or performing maintenance activities in consultation with the bakers or line operators.

· Inspects finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications.

· Uses Lean manufacturing principles to perform Root Cause Analysis.

· Works in a team and autonomously to complete work orders and provides mechanical support to production lines.

· Maintains inventory of job materials.

· Provides production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors.

· Adheres to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.

· Ensures the safe use of machines and tools. Sets up and verifies the functionality of safety equipment.

· Reports unsafe situations or near accidents and assists in the development of preventative solutions.

· Cleans production equipment or work areas. Selects cleaning materials, tools, or equipment.

· Measures and records data associated with operating equipment.

· May provide advice if an entry level Product ion Technician; or advice and/or training to other technicians if an intermediate Production Technician.

· Utilizes Microsoft Office to do word processing, basic spreadsheets, and basic presentations efficiently.

Specific Knowledge and Education required for this Maintenance Technician job:

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the mechanical job field, preferably in food processing or industrial manufacturing for the entry level position or a minimum of 3 years of experience plus an Associate degree in a relevant field or some mechanical training for the mid-level position.

· Some knowledge of electricity or experience along with a willingness to learn more on-the-job about electricity is a real plus.

· Knowledge of and experience with machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance is required.

· Knowledge of production processes, preferably in food processing or industrial manufacturing, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective processing or manufacture of goods.

· Mechanical troubleshooting experience in high-speed packaging and/or in a highly automated continuous electrical process environment preferred.

· Scissor forklift and lift truck experience preferred or ability to learn and operate these.

· For entry and intermediate levels, needs to know how to perform change overs.

· Persons in either level positions must maintain 5S in their assigned toolboxes, the shop, and where they work on the lines.

· The intermediate level person must be willing to be “on Call”.

· For the Intermediate level, needs to be able to train other technicians in at least 2 departments.

· Some knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology is preferred. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the appropriate operation of various machines and production processes.

· High School Diploma or GED required. High school level knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry, and their applications is needed.
