Materials Engineer

Position Summary

Canon Nanotechnologies, Inc. is looking for a materials scientist/engineer to join their materials R&D team to help with nanoimprint lithography materials development and testing.

Essential Functions

  • Develop new materials for nanoimprinting technology and other applications
  • Design, formulate, and test resists formulations to meet different requirements in semiconductor industry
  • Evaluate performance of materials by measuring mechanical properties, thermal stability, shrinkage, dry etching rate, etc.
  • Test jetting performance of the materials
  • Study the relationship between material properties and jetting/filling performance
  • Develop testing methods to quickly screen material formulations
  • Investigate material related mechanisms such as curing speed, filling speed, etc.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to imprinting materials, including imprint performance, defects, etc.
  • Prepare and present reports on material development



B.S. or Ph.D. degree in chemistry, material science, or chemical engineering. Preferably with organic or polymer background.

Experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of material development, including chemical structure/property relations, UV/thermal curable materials. Knowledge on SOC (spin on carbon) and SOD (spin on dielectric) is a plus
  • Familiarity with material characterization techniques such as TGA, DSC, AFM, FTIR, Rheometer, Nanoindenter, mechanical testing (Instron), etc.
  • Laboratory experience on organic compound handling. Experience with polymeric materials is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapid changes

  • Good written and oral communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
