Sales & Marketing Merchandiser

Manages the sales activities and merchandising efforts in the Chicagoland and surrounding market area. This position would be home based. Responsible for implementation of tactical sales planning, merchandising, organizing, and maximizing product sales through retail and food service placements. Responsible for meeting marketing, financial and corporate growth objectives. This is accomplished through the building of relationships with distributors and retailers in the area; the managing of existing accounts; and the acquisition of additional new customers.


  • Designs and develops tactical strategies for promotion and merchandising of Volpi products to meet organization objectives for sales, margin, and customer service.
  • Manages an assigned geographic sales area or product line to maximize sales revenues and enhance the Volpi product recognition.
  • Responsible for coordinating resources to ensure efficient and stable sales results.
  • Identifies areas for new sales and increases existing account sales.
  • Collaborates with the Sales Manager to establish and control budgets for sales promotion and expenses within the expense control policy.
  • Implement measurements to review and evaluates user demand and makes decisions regarding amount of merchandise to be stocked.
  • Assists Customer Service in establishing personal contact and rapport with top echelon decision-makers and vendor relationships to ensure merchandise exclusives, product launches, and the best deliveries.
  • Understands strengths, weaknesses, and strategy of competition and develop plans to maximize weaknesses.
  • Fundamental understanding of the relationship between product, sales, marketing and the account base.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and quantify market trends and balance supply and demand with consideration to promotions and change of ordering patterns.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Merchandising, Business Administration, and/or other applicable degree.
  • Minimum of two to four years’ sales and / or merchandising experience is required.
  • Experience in the food industry is preferred. Specific experience in wine and/or craft beer would be desirable.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trend information. Must be self –motivated and have discipline to work from home.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Ability to listen, negotiate and resolve conflicts swiftly.
  • Energetic personality with attention to detail, accuracy and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in developing marketing and sales promotions..
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate or above knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with current auto insurance.
