Job Details
  • Recruit, as necessary, oversee or conduct the training, supervise and review assigned staff of the Construction Design Department in assigned area office.
  • Develop the staff’s knowledge of construction materials, processes and documentation in conjunction with the Director, Construction Design.
  • Supervise, develop and mentor area CD staff and personnel through relationships that advance learning, communication, and challenges for growth.
  • Assign project teams based on skills and priorities.
  • Create and maintain overall department schedules in assigned area office.
  • Monitor established departmental and project budgets.
  • Assist staff with the development of schedules for the architectural and engineering activities of the project and work with project team to ensure the schedule supports construction.
  • Meet with General Contractors, Architects and Engineers, Owners and others to coordinate the design process, as required, and approval of drawings.
  • Coordinate and communicate progress with project teams. Ensure that drawing deadlines and budgets are being met and that capabilities are in place to achieve project drawing requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate structural engineering consultants.
  • Assist or lead CD scope of work on projects as needed.

Personally prepare drawings, schedules, submittals and corrections, as required.
  • Estimate and bid CD work for prospective projects. Provide detailed proposals, inclusions, exclusions and qualifications, as required. Work with area CD personnel to ensure buy-in to process, scope and budgeting.
  • Oversee CD project kick-off and strategy meetings.
  • Review and redline drawings for correction prior to release.
  • Develop and maintain KHS&S Standards manual and associated processes.
  • Assess and implement new technology, software and equipment to increase department capabilities and efficiency.
