Seasonal Maintenance Worker

The City of Olathe is seeking Seasonal Maintenance Workers, this is an entry level position where you will receive on the job training in general maintenance work in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of the City's infrastructure system.  Also, you will have the opportunity to earn your CDL. 

Key Responsibilities

The Work:
Perform unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance work for Streets and Utilities.

  • Perform construction, operation, repair and maintenance on assigned systems.
  • Operate variety of equipment including trucks, snowplows, hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and various other tools and equipment.
  • Participate in housekeeping duties, grounds and building maintenance.
  • Perform on call duties and overtime and other duties as required.

Bonus Points if You Have:
  • CDL License, if not we will train you!

Experience & Education

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION GUIDELINES Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
Experience: Entry levelno experience required.  Must be 18 years of age.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.  
Licenses and Certificates:   Valid driver’s license with favorable driving record.  Assistance in obtaining a CDL.

Supplemental Information

Must pass a pre-employment background check, physical, agility, and drug screenings. 
Must be able to work outside in increment weather conditions, with the physical ability for prolonged lifting, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling. Work performance will be a factor when considering seasonal candidates for future internal Full-time job opportunities.
