Manufacturing Engineer

PDS Tech is seeking a  Manufacturing Engineer in Tallassee, AL. 

Responsibilities: 

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer in the Defense Airframe business line is responsible for delivering manufacturing engineering solutions to the Programs and Operations organizations up to Life Cycle Gate (LCG) 7.   ME’s develop these solutions to enable and deliver Zero Defect Manufacturing processes during the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase of the product Life Cycle.  ME’s are accountable for defining and delivering robust and capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.
  • Responsible for the implementation of tooling and or production planning, from original concept through to production. ME’s design these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizing standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
  • ME’s are accountable for product development, first article development, configuration changes, build process definition, implementation and validation.
  • ME’s deliver measurable, metrics driven results in line with Operational & Program goals.
  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
  • Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of LEAN processes and practices
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. 
  • Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain a US DOD Secret Clearance 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical) preferred but not required. 
Additional Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with AS-9145 Zero Defect Manufacturing, or equivalent automotive PPAP experience
  • Experience with New Product / Process introduction (industrialization) & existing production process improvements
  • Knowledge of statistics and statistical process control (SPC)
  • Strong background with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
