St. Luke's is proud of the skills, experience and compassion of its employees. The employees of St. Luke's are our most valuable asset! Individually and together, our employees are dedicated to satisfying the mission of our organization which is an unwavering commitment to excellence as we care for the sick and injured; educate physicians, nurses and other health care providers; and improve access to care in the communities we serve, regardless of a patient's ability to pay for health care.

St Luke’s Allentown campus has an outstanding critical care department. The Intensive Care Unit is a 15 bed department that cares for critically ill and step down patients. The entire team is highly trained in critical care medicine. The team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, patient care assistants, respiratory therapists, case management, pharmacists, educators and more. The admission diagnoses to the unit are respiratory failure/distress, cardiac arrest/failure, acute kidney injury, cerebro-vascular accidents, seizures, diabetic ketoacidosis, psychiatric stabilizations, post-catheterization, and post-surgical including vascular, abdominal, bariatric and tracheotomies. The latest technologies are used when caring for these very critically ill patients. Artic sun, continuous renal replacement therapy, intra-aortic balloon pump, rapid infusers, bipap, and ventilators are available when needed in the critical care department. The ICU staff is also an essential part of the code blue and rapid response teams for the entire campus.
