Maintenance Electrician

JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.



Working under limited supervision of the work unit Lead, the incumbent uses high-level skills and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, structural, carpentry and/or plumbing assemblies to effect repairs of facilities, machinery, mechanical equipment, locks and hardware and other related subsystems. Work is performed in accordance with pertinent guides and regulations.
• Examine mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment to diagnose the source of trouble or malfunction.
• Dismantle or partly dismantle subsystems and effects repairs primarily using hand tools.
• Replace defective parts with items obtained from existing stock.
• Prepare written specifications for major repairs or for production of parts ordered from a machine shop.
• Reassemble machines and make all necessary adjustments for operation.
• Provides work direction and or instructs lower level maintenance workers as required.
• Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Work is generally performed outdoors but may be indoors in a shop or repair facility. The incumbent may be required to work under moderate noise conditions and under extreme weather conditions This position may require travel to work sites at remote facilities. The work requires the ability to frequently stoop, stretch, and lift/carry up to 50 pounds or more for such purposes as retrieving and moving parts (anything heavier than 50 pounds requires two people or mechanical assistance). RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION The incumbent possesses high-level skills and knowledge of electrical code and practice to respond to trouble tickets, routine maintenance and provide infrastructure upgrades as needed. Experience in commercial and industrial settings strongly preferred. The candidate possess a working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components such as switches, relays, motors, capacitors and other parts of an industrial electrical system. Candidate should possess specific experience with electrical distribution, system installation surveys to include component specifications, conductor sizing and conduit installation. Work is performed with commitment to compliance of all safety standards and regulations at all times. The incumbent will be responsible for providing work direction and/or instructs lower level maintenance workers as required. Assess systems and suggest modifications to prevent future issues. Install new equipment and wiring to expand infrastructure as needed. Log all services and report progress to management daily. Work across trades with HVAC and Mechanical Support to ensure completion of Monthly Preventative Maintenance Inspections as well as to diagnose the source of trouble or malfunction of all mission critical equipment.


Graduate from a two-year accredited technical institution or equivalent and completed training as part of a formal apprenticeship program. Incumbent must have acquired and maintained journeyman-level proficiency in one or more building trades disciplines (Mechanical/Electrical/HVAC) during eight (8) years of directly related work experience. Performance of these activities requires current knowledge in the proper use of all hand tools. The incumbent must possess or acquire a working knowledge of the technical terminology and language structure related to a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment/systems supported by the work unit. The incumbent must have basic personal computer skills and knowledge of applications software and database usage sufficient to maintain records and files. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. The incumbent must possess a valid, state issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
