Receiving Clerk



The Receiving Clerk’s primary function is to verify received invoices for product and quantity, including unpacking merchandise from boxes and placing it in tote bins. This position works under general supervision. The position will interact with a supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Many non-routine activities will require a supervisor’s advance approval.


• Verify incoming shipments against the original order and the accompanying bill of lading or printed invoice.

• Use handheld inventory computer or printed information to find back stock location of products.

• Utilize manual box cutter to open packages and unpack products manually.

• Route or move shipments to the proper department, warehouse section, or stockroom.

• Lift, move and stack wooden pallets and arrange products into totes.

• Move wooden pallets of product from one location to another using hand pallet jack.

• Pick up and discard paper, packing/wrapping materials, empty cartons, and all trash/debris throughout work shift.

• Communicate any issues to management that could result in process delays, safety issues, or anything else that could cause loss to the company or its associates.

• Work closely with the other team members to ensure that daily goals are obtained or exceeded.

• Must be at least 18 years old and present state-required proof of age documents

• Previous experience working in a distribution center preferred

• High school diploma or GED required

• Must be able to lift and/or move boxes, totes and other objects weighing up to 50 lbs., horizontally, and from ground level to a minimum height of 4 feet.

• Must be able to stand and walk unaccompanied for entire shift periods lasting up to 8 hours or more per day


• Ability to communicate effectively with others, with varying responsibilities and work areas, using spoken and written English

• Ability to work under demanding time constraints and production goals

• Working understanding of basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

• Ability to operate a manual non-motorized hand pallet jack

• Ability to understand and comply with all GameStop policies and procedures, including but not limited to, those related to attendance, safety, conflict of interest, confidentiality, honesty and ethical conduct

• Ability to organize, prioritizes, and control job responsibilities in order to meet established deadlines.
