Basic Function

The purpose of the job is to support the execution of MTBE commercial strategies to maximize value in the TBA chain. Key functions include trading, hedging program support, market monitoring and reporting, and providing support for commercial, business development & advocacy projects.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Trade MTBE so that maximum value of traded product is obtained. Responsible for total trades up to 500 kt/ $500 MM annually.
  • Develop and execute short and mid-term trading plan in close coordination with Marketing Manager
  • Monitor and participate in daily Platt's USGC MTBE trading window
  • Execute MTBE hedging strategies as directed by Business Management
  • Analyze and report on trade activities for US MTBE & support daily fuels market reporting, including
  • Demand and customer intelligence
  • Competitor intelligence
  • Arbitrage analysis
  • Maintain U.S. MTBE Trade log and USGC Platt's MTBE financial exposure monitoring for LYB TBA chain
  • Support analysis for import/export optimization
  • Interface with Supply Chain to ensure smooth transport of materials to customers
  • Work closely with counterparts in Europe and Asia to optimize global MTBE trade for LYB
  • Support business development and advocacy initiatives, such as product specification changes & standardization, lifecycle analysis, Mexico truck and rail customer cultivation
  • Support ISCC Process requirements

Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor or advanced degree in Business Management, Engineering or related field
  • Seven or more years in the fuels or petrochemical industry, ideally experience in a commodity market of which three or more years in trading, commercial, business analytics, or scheduling position
  • Excellent planning, analysis, and reporting skills
  • Good negotiator with excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of scheduling and logistics processes
  • Excellent teamwork, with ability to pivot between multiple priorities
  • Open for new developments and opportunities
  • Results and value oriented, with good financial acumen
  • Demonstrated capability to organize processes with multiple stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous trading experience
  • Knowledge of fuels markets and participants
  • Bi-lingual
