Depot Technician

This position is located in Hillsboro within our Analytical Instruments Group. How will you make an impact?


As a Depot Repair Technician, you're a key member of a dedicated and encouraging team, providing outstanding levels of service to delight our customers. Responsibilities will be to quickly and effectively fulfill repairs of outstanding workmanship that satisfy the highest quality and business standards.


What will you do?

  • Clean, inspect, and detail pre-repair condition of all repairs.
  • Provide product evaluation and repair Chiller/Freezer service to customer/stock units at the Service center or in the field at a customer’s site (If necessary, when trained to do so), or to troubleshoot by phone using validated diagnostic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Replace all non-conforming and preventive maintenance parts as needed.
  • Fully test and calibrate completed repairs, and provide comprehensive test data, documentation, and service reporting.
  • Handle most record keeping functions for Return Authorizations, Service Quotes, and Service Orders.
  • Drive lean practices and continuous improvement events central to our service business.



How will you get here?

Education

Required

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • EPA Certification to handle Refrigerant
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean MVR Report


Preferred

  • Technical College/Vocational Program Degree or meaningful service work experience.


Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced, multi-tasking shop, service and/or customer support environment.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of analytical instrumentation, environmental chemistry, pneumatics and mechanics.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, test procedures, wiring diagrams, schematics and repairs through to work order completion.
  • Basic Electrical knowledge – reading a schematic and how electricity works in relationship to switches, transformers and various electronic components.
  • Refrigeration knowledge: evaluate, recover, repair, recharge and test.
  • Troubleshooting skills with refrigeration, plumbing and electrical systems
  • Facility with basic hand tools
  • Brazing and soldering of copper pipe using silver solder, phoson rod and soft solder.
  • Some experience with Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and database applications (CRM and ERP tools).
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, over 40 lbs with help
  • Must be able to travel, if necessary, though 75-85% of work is done at the Depot.
  • Must be willing to help with deliveries or pickups using the box truck and also be willing to be DOT-certified if needed to drive the truck.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Plumbing and pump skills are a plus, (understanding pump curves and systems)
  • Knowledge of recirculating chiller, cascading systems or freezer equipment is a plus.
