Roadway Engineer

STV has a thriving Transportation & Infrastructure practice with a close-knit, team-oriented group that is growing.  This backlog includes tasks associated with various infrastructure improvement projects for Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) as well as municipal and private sector clients.

The Roadway Engineer located in our Orlando, FL offers opportunities to understand the entire project, work with a diverse staff, interact directly with clients, while promoting the culture of a healthy work-life balance. This role offers the opportunity to function as a key resource in support of our other offices and have a direct impact on the improvement of infrastructure nationally.

The ideal candidate is an individual who desires to work on a team, displays confidence, and desires to understand the entirety of roadway design.

Responsibilities include :

  • Providing professional design services for transportation highway and other projects for the FDOT and other transportation agencies.
  • Developing design plans including horizontal and vertical alignment, cross sections, construction staging, traffic control plans, signing and pavement marking plans.
  • Coordinating with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget.
  • Assisting with the development of specifications, cost estimates, reports and preparing final bid packages.
  • Coordinating design development and assisting with technical direction to other design staff.
  • Establishing working relationships and interfacing with client technical staff and project managers.
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical and cost proposals.
  • Mentoring supporting highway design staff.
  • Attending project meetings with clients, sub-consultants, and the project team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license 
  • FDOT and municipal client experience is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive transportation design experience
  • Proficient with MicroStation Geopak and Corridor modeling and/or Inroads design software
  • Open Roads Designer experience is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with AASHTO and other FHWA design standards.
