CNC Turning Machinist - 2nd or 3rd shift ($2/hour Shift premium!)

Description

Under the supervision of the Cell Leader and General Manager, the Machinist-Level 2

will operate equipment in the machining/turning center to perform specific machining operations over a wide range of surfaces, diameters and depths, and keep close tolerances according to blueprints/diagrams. Relies on machine set-ups made by others and instructions given on operating procedures.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

* Work from instructions detailing various operations being completed in machining centers.

* Understand how to use general measuring instruments.

* Work from drawings and use required precision measuring instruments.

* Know G&M codes.

* Create machine origins.

* Set tools and make offsets in tool page.

* May operate one or more automatic numerical control machines as assigned.

* Know the proper care and use of machine, material and equipment as well as follow instructions.

* Identify the difference between alloys; i.e. stainless steel, aluminum, tungsten, titanium.

* Know what to look for when visually and physically examining the surface finishes of parts for defects.

* Maintain accuracy in production and tooling.

* Completes any and all paperwork as required; Job Traveler, VISTA, etc.

* Supports company policies and procedures. i.e. safety.

* Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures.

* Comply with all quality and safety regulations and procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications

* Must meet all Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Machinist-Level 1.

* Proficient in blueprint reading.

* Basic reading, writing and math skills.

* Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and how it relates to the blueprint.

* Understand quality plans and understand how they relate to balloon drawing.

* Basic understanding of quality standards and gauging.


Physical Demands

* Ability to lift up to 10 pounds intermittently.

* Ability to stand 100% of work day; occasionally bend or twist.
