Network and Systems Engineer

Allegro is hiring for a Network and Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. Operational Management, Acquisition & Deployment

  • Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, firewalls, switches, and other network hardware.
  • Ensure high network availability while meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements (SLA) through continuous monitoring and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintaining the Cisco network equipment and servers comprising the Allegro network infrastructure. Ensuring that configuration of equipment is done according to standard procedures. Maintaining current revisions of software and firmware for networking equipment and performs upgrades as required.
  • Monitoring the network to ensure a high level of performance and availability. Developing and utilizing network management tools to assist in network monitoring and proactive management of the network equipment and systems. Ensuring network availability in a 7x24 hour environment. Proactively managing the networks to avoid network overloads or reduced performance.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the future developments in network management and recommends new technology as appropriate such as SD-WAN.
  • Creating and maintaining network documentation necessary to ensure the efficient operation of Allegro networks.
  • Participating in the development of standards, policies, and procedures related to the operation of the Allegro network. Enforcing policies and follows standards in the configuration and management of the network. Managing local, remote and VPN user access to the network.
  • Proactively planning for the growth and supportability of the network infrastructure to ensure that it operates in an efficient and reliable manner.
  • Participate in supporting all network security solutions
  • Assist the IT Security group in performing network security audits
  • Manage of some servers physical and virtual server and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.

Formal Education & Certification

  • University degree in computer science or electrical engineering and/or 4+ years equivalent work experience.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Any relevant certifications (CCNP, CCNA, CCDA, CCIE, etc.)
  • Experience with Cisco Routers, Switches, WLC's and Firewalls
  • Configuring and managing Client and Site to Site VPN access (IPSec VPN)
  • Knowledge of Cisco firewall security features
  • Routing technology knowledge of MPLS
  • Knowledgeable with Cisco ISE (NAC) a plus
  • Experience with VMware vCenter and VMware suite of tools (vCenter, vROPS, vRealize, etc.)

Personal Competencies:

  • Strong network troubleshooting background
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Comfortable in high pressure situation and knows how to respond appropriately in any situation
