Compensation Analyst



Stifel's Human Resources department is looking for a motivated and innovative Compensation Analyst to join our growing team and contribute to the success of Stifel's compensation program. In this role, the Compensation Analyst is responsible for administering company compensation programs, and maintaining compensation systems, procedures, and controls consistent with the Firm's policies and practices. This position will partner with the Compensation Manager, HR Business Partners, and senior leadership to provide analysis of compensation data while acting as a subject matter expert and point of contact for compensation solutions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys working with all areas of compensation practices and the ability to make an impact. Knowledge of excel principles including pivot tables, look-ups, and the ability to write formulas strongly preferred.


  • Conduct analytical data work, job analysis work, and prepare recommendations using compensation techniques and methods.
  • Manage, maintain and enhance the utilization of the job description management tool (JDM).
  • Collaborate with HR business partners and assigned functions in the creation and utilization of a consistent compensation program and job structure.
  • Participates in annual salary survey selection and participation.
  • Assist with the updating and maintenance of the project management tool and the team inbox.
  • Communicates project status internally and manage communication between the project team and its stakeholders
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, which include minimum wage, minimum threshold, EEO and AAP.
  • Participate in the annual review of pay structures, including market analysis and benchmark job calibration.
  • Assist in developing communication and training materials to employees and managers.
  • Revise and update compensation policies and procedures.


  • Must have a strong data analysis skills and passion for manipulating large sums of data via Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of appropriate federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Solid knowledge of compensation administration, legislation, and compliance.
  • Experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Significant amount of organization and the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to find trends in large sets of compensation data.


  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum Required: 3-5 years' of experience in the related field
