General Information Founded in 2003, the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services (IIHHS) is a community-engaged center of learning, scholarship, and mutual support between James Madison University and the community of Harrisonburg, surrounding counties, and the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. IIHHS has more than 28 programs and is housed within JMU's College of Health and Behavioral Studies. This position will begin working in Fall 2021 through the academic year. This position is a approximately 10 hours per week commitment, with most hours between 9am-6pm. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assist the Associate Director of Research and Public Health in developing and implementing the IIHHS Evaluation Initiative.
2. Assist with research, data collection, data analysis, and preparation of evaluation reports.
3. Assist with the planning and facilitation of evaluation-related workshops and active learning sessions for IIHHS faculty and staff.
4. Conduct literature reviews.
5. Prepare materials for IRB protocol submissions.
6. Work with faculty and staff involved in the IIHHS Evaluation Initiative.
7. Meet with the Associate Director of Research and Public Health on a weekly basis to maintain ongoing communication and assess progress.
8. Other duties as assigned related to research and evaluation. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess:
- Completion of undergraduate or graduate coursework in research methods and statistics (or similar courses).
- Experience with research design and data analysis.
- Understanding and knowledge of best practices in research and evaluation.
- Experience using SPSS (or other statistical analysis software).
- Comfort with using Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
- Excellent writing skills.
- A friendly and professional demeanor.
- A high-level of motivation, regularly demonstrated initiative, good time-management skills, and the ability to be independently productive.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred but not required:
- Experience conducting program evaluations.
- Experience facilitating/leading workshops.
- Experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Conditions of Employment

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
