Transportation Planner

We are looking for driven, enthusiastic future leaders to help propel our California Transportation Group.

Working with our Transportation Group, this position offers good variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Development of technical and public-facing memoranda, reports, and plans
  • Data analysis, field investigations, walking audits
  • Development of graphics, tables, charts and exhibits
  • Community engagement including in-person and virtual methods
  • Application of techniques, theories, and best practices in active transportation planning

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to evaluate, select, and apply standard planning techniques, procedures, and criteria along with the application of sound professional judgment, under supervision. The position requires developing written content and reports for multiple audiences in support of projects. The ideal candidate will have an academic and/or professional background in active transportation planning, as well as a personal interest in active, sustainable, and equitable transportation. Our planners work hand in hand with our engineers, landscape architects, and digital analysts to develop plans that are implementable and meet our clients’ needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the active transportation planning and design field, and a belief that walking and bicycling are integral to our transportation system.


  • Undergraduate degree in Planning or related field
  • 2-4 years transportation planning experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with complete streets and active transportation projects
  • Experience conducting community engagement activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in developing, managing and analyzing large and complex databases

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills
  • Proficiency in GIS
  • Experience developing grant applications
