What You Will Do:
As a Recovery Room PACU/Pre-Op Holding Registered Nurse with Saint Thomas Health, you will have the opportunity to provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization in both our PACU and our Pre-Op Holding units. This is a FUN and Collaborative team working to promote the best plan of care for each patient, making recommendations for patient interventions, and collaborating with other health care providers to deliver care and document outcomes. Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
  • Follow aseptic sterile technique according to Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses / American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (AORN/ASPAN) standards.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate
  • Evaluate patient's responses to treatments and interventions.
  • Manage patient's pain.
  • Anticipate case-specific needs based on knowledge of procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.

  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with patient, family, and members of the healthcare team.
  • Assess the physical and psychological status of patients, provide interventions/treatments and
    evaluate effectiveness of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Evaluate learning needs of patient and family and provide age-specific and culturally appropriate
    education.
  • All other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need: Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • BLS Provider obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
