Job Summary: WFAA is conducting a national search for an Investigative Reporter committed to hard-hitting impactful journalism that uncovers needed answers for the communities we serve in North Texas. WFAA has a rich tradition of investigative journalism, with an unwavering commitment to explore deep-seated problems, expose public corruption, and share in-depth stories that lead to change with real impact in the community.

Our investigative team has long been recognized by some of the top honors for investigative journalism and remains the only local TV investigative team to win the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Gold Baton.

We produce a diverse array of stories, conducting both short-term and long-term investigations, including documentaries. The WFAA team utilizes public records, deep research, in-depth interviews, and systematic reviews of information to hold the powerful accountable with the goal of making our society more just, safe, and equitable.

We are looking for a journalist ready to tackle any story, develop and maintain critical sources and break news. This reporter should be committed daily to the power of journalism to create change at the local, state and national level.

WFAA wants a reporter who embraces modern storytelling techniques, so our investigative team remains on the cutting edge of journalism in both substance and style.

The ideal candidate will have a history of producing recognized investigative reporting both in changing laws and standards. Candidates with a history of being honored with a Peabody, an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia or other investigative journalism acknowledgements should indicate on your application.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce investigative stories for all broadcast and digital platforms
  • Assist with breaking news when necessary, including producing investigative angles to developing stories
  • Advanced understanding of the concepts of journalistic ethics and media law, including fair use and public records
  • Meet deadlines for critical legal review
  • Active social and digital presence



    Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional investigative journalism or related experience
  • Understand the tenets and ethics of professional journalism
  • Must have strong writing and storytelling skills

    Travel: Occasionally: 10-25%
