Job Description

The College of Engineering Recruitment & Outreach Programs is hiring a Graduate Assistant to support numerous recruitment and outreach programs. The Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting with the overall development, programming and implementation of recruitment and outreach programs. A major focus for this position is coordinating the seamless transition of these programs to an online platform. This is NOT a research assistantship. The successful applicant will be a self-starter, possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and able to work individually and on a team. Graduate students enrolled at any college at the University of Nevada are eligible to apply. Individuals with experience in engineering, science or education are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support for Recruitment & Outreach Coordinator

Support K-12 Outreach Coordinator with Mobile Engineering Education Lab (ME2L) program, virtual camps and online events

Collaborate with the MAKE Nevada Coordinator for design and implementation of grant funded programs

Develop and implement plans to market, promote and publicize K-12 Outreach Programs to Northern Nevada

Coordinate undergraduate engineering ambassadors across multiple programs

Coordinate, design, and gather information for recruitment projects

Assist with survey administration and other assessment efforts for program reporting

Attend regular team meetings and keep regularly scheduled office hours

Develop relationships with teachers/schools/community partners throughout Northern Nevada

Serve as a liaison between the Recruitment & Outreach Team and community partners

Track program supplies and inventory

Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

To be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to a degree-granting program and be in good academic standing. The student must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and must be continuously enrolled in at least 6 graduate level credits (600-700) throughout the duration of the assistantship.

Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and social media

Ability to take the initiative and work on multiple projects at a time

Exceptional team work and interpersonal skills

Work Schedule/Conditions

This is a graduate assistant position for 10 - 20 hours per week (dependent on funding) during the 2021-2022 academic year. The position may require a combination of virtual and on campus presence in accordance with local, state and federal social distancing guidelines. The Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator, Meg Fitzgerald. Compensation and benefits for the position include tuition waiver, a monthly stipend and health insurance. The position is funded through May 31, 2021. NOTE: This is NOT a research assistantship.
