Registered Nurse-PACU

The role of the Perianesthesia Nurse is to advocate for an environment of safety in which the nurse delivers quality care to this most unique population as they undergo anesthesia and surgery. The Perianesthesia nurse has the responsibility of recognizing the uniqueness of age-related pathophysiologic and anatomical differences found with the pediatric patient. Special

consideration is given to the assessment of the pediatric respiratory system and subsequent airway management, pain management ,pediatric-specific surgical procedures, and illnesses. The safety and well-being of the child must be maximized and supported by the nurse to prevent complications and decrease risks when they are under the influence of anesthesia agents and its adjuncts. The Perianesthesia nurse must advocate for the special needs of the patient to ensure that their perioperative experience is optimal from the perioperative period to discharge to home.

Job Requirements:

Current Pennsylvania license from the State Board of Nursing; BLS , required.

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; critical care,  ICU experience; pediatric ICU and/or orthopedic SCI experience preferred.
