Mechanical Engineer - Electrical Systems, Automotive

Major area of responsibilities includes:

Preliminary design preparation ( gathering information before designing )

  • Design activities ( Concept design)
  • Evaluation and analysis
  • Component and assembly modeling ( Detail design)
  • Prototype or production manufacturing and quality coordination
  • Drawing preparation and release
  • Scheduling & reporting

Requirements includes:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent BS degree is preferred,
  • 3 years of experience in 2D and 3D CAD modeling in automotive industry, preferably in design of electrical system, chassis or powertrain components.
  • Mechanical engineer with an understanding of how to integrate electrical systems
  • Some hardware and integration of electrical with the system experience
  • Optimizing the battery itself in addition to how it fits in context
  • Battery cooling, the sealants involved and other materials for the casing etc, all relevant
  • Some experience with electric boxes, harnesses, light composites, etc
  • Simulation skills including FEA and kinematic geometry modeling.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and standard codes.
  • Knowledge of GD&T practices
  • Knowledge of mechanical and cost calculation process.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills with ability to identify true root causes.
  • Ability to create innovative design concepts based on sound engineering principles.
  • Ability to accurately apply engineering theories to design layouts and drawings.
  • Background in designing parts for an electrification project is a plus.
